Anna’s Passions and Services

As one of my teachers David Chan, L.Ac., says “Acupuncture is the hyphen between body and spirit.”

Fine needles are placed along energy lines to smooth and soothe the flow of blood and qi through the body where blockages have occurred from long term stress or sudden trauma.

Acupuncture and the philosophy in which it is based is about energy and microclimates within our bodies that are also in our environment. We can be humid in one part of our body and a desert in another. I use acupuncture, herbs, food and lifestyle to balance out these microclimates.

I use cupping in many of my treatments, and if you are afraid of needles, cupping is a great alternative to acupuncture. Cupping is beneficial for lymph cleansing, fertiity, abdominal/digestive problems, any body pain, injuries, and facelifts!

Cupping is also highly effective for children.

Chinese Medicine, Folk Herbalist

My earliest memory is walking out the back door to the forest behind our house in Northern California. I was three years old. It was my place of solace to silently relate to the plant beings, my friends. I tasted and smelled and squished and opened seed pods, leaves, flowers. I asked everyone I could if they knew the name of these plants. I found out what was edible and brought them home to add to dinner’s salad.

This memory guided me to Chinese medicine, which offered me a complete system on the elemental energetics of place, plant, and human, as well as where we merge and how we support our mutual thriving.

Women’s Health and Family Health

As the co-creator of Well Women Acupuncture, I helped hundreds of women with a variety of fertility challenges.  I supported women through natural conceptions and through fertility remedies.

Some women who were diagnosed infertile and recommended by their MD’s to go straight to using donor eggs, conceived on their own regardless of elevated FSH, and peri-menopausal appearing labs.

2995040_origI have witnessed many women with elevated FSH as high as 25 conceive naturally, while some women did indeed become mothers through donor eggs.

My support continues as their families grow, offering herbs, nutrition and acupuncture to promote lactation, to increase libido, and to harmonize postpartum upheaval.

When a woman learns how to mother herself in all ways she is ready to become a mother to another. While Western medicine views the human body and the reproductive system in particular as in a state of inevitable degeneration, Chinese medicine views the body-mind-spirit trinity as an ever adaptive system, which, when given appropriate nourishment and attention has the profound ability to maximize and manifest its highest potential.

I support women through the journey to motherhood, however the path winds, with acupuncture, nutrition, herbs, and emotional guidance.

Lyme Disease: Seeking Harmony and Balance

Lyme disease is epidemic. It is elusive and mysterious. Nevada County has the second highest rates of Lyme disease in California. While people continue to struggle with symptoms long after their antibiotic treatment is completed, the CDC claims there is no such thing as Chronic Lyme.

I am a “LAMP,” a Lyme-Aware Medical Practitioner. My approach to Lyme is less of a battle and more of an opportunity to seek harmony and balance within the individual. Our tendency is to fear nature: never to walk out in the woods again for fear of a tick bite. My approach is to keep the immune system healthy year round so that if one does get bit, they may recover more quickly, and probably have a less severe reaction.

Lyme disease is shocking and disheartening and requires constant patient-practitioner contact to navigate through the constantly changing symptoms. I work with the whole person. I also address emotions, for deep-seated emotions use up a whole lot of a person’s qi and may deprive the body of the ability to maintain a healthy immune system.

Herbal treatment gives patients an opportunity to make friends with nature and to create the harmony with nature that we as humans have upset.

Herbs can be very effective, especially in the face of anit-biotic resistant bacterias and co-infections.  I use acupuncture, cupping, moxa, gua sha, nutrition, supplements, and customized herbal formulas.
